Founder
Jeff Lejfer is
Founder and President of New Day Underwriting Managers LLC. Jeff has enjoyed more
than 30 years in the insurance industry during which he has developed
broad-based industry
expertise in specialty coverages, underwriting management, administration, sales, and
marketing. Prior to establishing New Day Underwriting, Jeff served as President of
XL Programs, a U.S. division of Bermuda-based XL Capital. At XL, Jeff managed
overall operations and underwriting relationships with program managers who administered XLs book of specialized program business. Prior to that position, Jeff served
as Executive Vice President of Strategic Services, for XL Environmental, another XL
Capital company. Jeffs extensive environmental insurance underwriting
experience was honed during the more than a dozen years he spent with XL Environmental,
formerly called ECS, Inc., one of the pioneering environmental insurance providers. There,
he held many senior positions, directing underwriting operations and business
development. He was also responsible for maximizing the use of the companys
strategic resources, including Human Resources, Quality and Organizational Effectiveness,
Information Services, Marketing and Communications, and Government Affairs. He was a
director of the Center for Environmental Risk Management a forum for discussing current
issues and trends in environmental risk management for brokers and agents. Prior to
ECS, Jeff was Vice President and managed the North American operations for Property and
Inland Marine for American Home Assurance Company, New York, a division of AIG. Jeff holds
a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Connecticut and the Chartered
Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation. He is past Skipper of the New
York Mariners Club and former President of the Philadelphia Mariners Club.

Underwriting, Jeff Slivka brings a strong combination of professional experience, having
worked with major brokerage firms, managing agencies and insurance
carriers. He has spent
the last 18 years developing his environmental and professional liability underwriting expertise at Aon, Arthur J. Gallagher, and ECS, Inc. In his most recent position as
a senior consultant/construction specialist in Aons Environmental Group, Jeff served
as environmental and professional liability resource for all construction related
business, assisting in the sales and broking of environmental and professional liability
insurance programs for all types of construction firms on an international basis.
Over the years, Jeff has assisted approximately 50% of the ENR Top 400 Construction firms
with managing environmental and/or professional liability. Jeff has also been in the
forefront of helping businesses address a growing concern -- mold liability. To help
businesses learn about and manage their mold risks, Jeff co-developed many mold
management/awareness programs for various construction-related risks. While at
ECS/XL Environmental, Jeff underwrote and managed all types of environmental insurance
and construction related professional liability products. Jeff received his Bachelor of Science degree in geology from Bloomsburg
University of Pennsylvania.
He has completed the
professional designations of Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and
Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS), and is pursuing the
Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation. He is a
member of the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) and serves on
AGC’s National Risk Management Committee and Environmental Committees. Jeff
is also the environmental columnist on IRMI.com.
TIMOTHY
FARRELL

President, Sales
Tim
Farrell is a 20-year veteran of the commercial property and casualty industry with an
exceptionally strong sales and marketing record in the environmental insurance
industry. Tim joined New Day Underwriting Managers after more than a decade selling
environmental insurance coverages and services with XL Environmental, formerly ECS, Inc.,
part of the XL Capital group of companies. He began his environmental
insurance sales career with ECS in 1995, prior to the companys acquisition by XL
Capital in 1999. During his tenure at ECS/XL Environmental, Tim was influential in
seeing that the companys book of environmental insurance business grow to almost
$400 million in 2004. While at XL, Tims personal sales territory represented a
significant portion of the total XL Environmental book of business. His extensive
experience includes additional sales and marketing experience as a broker, managing
general agent and insurance carrier. Prior to joining ECS, Tim worked in regional sales
and marketing positions for CIGNA Property & Casualty Co. in Philadelphia and Maguire
Insurance Group in Wynnewood, PA. He earned his Masters of Business Administration
from St. Josephs University and his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from
Temple University. He is a member of Philadelphias Mariner Club.
JOHN HEFT
Vice President
For New Day Underwriting, John Heft not only adds 17 years of environmental
underwriting experience, but he brings a solid base of facility-focused work
experience – working for a major brokerage firm, an insurance carrier
and an environmental consultant. Throughout his professional career, John
has provided environmental risk management solutions for a variety of
industry
sectors including chemical, petrochemical, energy, manufacturing,
real estate, universities and healthcare.
To provide the right risk management solutions, John honed his expertise in
environmental liability assessment, quantification, loss control, as well as
insurance program development and placement. John’s specialty is
transactional business where he is well-trained to address clients’ legacy
liability issues and prospective portfolio insurance programs.
In his most recent position as a Vice President/Client Advisor in Marsh’s
Environmental Practice, John was responsible for working with large domestic
and international Fortune 100 to middle market clients. He also generated
new and expanded revenue for the Practice. Prior to joining Marsh, John was
a Manager of ECS/XL Environmental’s Chemical Facilities Unit, promoted from
a Senior Facility Underwriter position, and he was responsible for
underwriting and managing all types of environmental insurance products.
John also has environmental consulting experience with Consulting Services,
Inc. (CSI) where he was responsible for environmental risk assessment
surveys for facilities throughout the US.
John received his BS degree in General Science and a MS Degree in Water
Resource and Environmental Engineering from Villanova University. He is
currently pursuing his Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation.
